Madonna e o grupo Garbage levaram o maior número de indicações ao Video Music Awards (VMAs) da MTV norte-americana. Na 15ª edição do prêmio, Madonna recebeu oito indicações para ‘‘Ray of Light’’, inclusive a de melhor vídeo do ano, e uma para ‘‘Frozen’’. A banda Garbage pegou oito indicações para ‘‘Push It’’. O ator e rapper Will Smith ficou com seis indicações para ‘‘Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It’’, como a de melhor vídeo do ano e a de escolha do público.
